Packaging your files into a ZIP-file, can be a requirement to upload multiple files to the internet. In this QuickTip we'll go through how to package files on Windows and MacOS.

How to ZIP files on Windows

Windows have had inbuild support for zipping files for the past lot of versions. Regardless of Windows version, it's done in the following way.

Here's how it's done:

  1. Hold down shift and click the files you want to combine into a ZIP
  2. Once all of them is selected, hover one of your files and right click
  3. (See Screenshot below) Select 'Send to' and click 'Compressed (Zipped) folder'
  4. Name your folder and hit enter

That's it! The files you selected is now copied into the zip and have been compressed within the zip file.

How to ZIP files on Mac

Mac, just like Windows, have inbuild support for quickly zipping files.

Here's how it's done:

  1. Hold down command and click the files you want to combine into a ZIP
  2. Once all of them is selected, hover one of your files and hold down control while you click
  3. Select 'Compress'

The files you selected is now copied into the zip and have been compressed within the zip file.
